We are fortunate to be the home of New Mexico State University which contributes immeasurably to the Las Cruces area's arts and recreational offerings, as well as being an integral part of our community's educational, cultural and economic fabric. Las Crucens are proud to be able to take advantage of the University's library, museums, art galleries, symphony and other musical ensembles, professional theater, national performers, PBS, NPR campus stations, and a full 6-sport WAC athletics program. The University's golf, tennis, and swimming facilities are open to the public. The 13,000 seat Pan American Center is home to many sports activities as well as playing host to world renowned musical groups like Trans Siberian Orchestra as well as celebrity speaking events like Bill Cosby, plus much more.

Old Mesilla

Las Cruces Farmers Market
One of the biggest continual year-round attractions is the Las Cruces Farmers Market, occurring on Wednesday and Saturday mornings at the Downtown Mall. Here, shoppers find anything from local art to organic seeds and produce, plus an exclusive look at promotional happenings in our local restaurants and businesses. People come down here and browse through the handmade clothing and intricately made jewelry while munching on wonderful baked goods from the wide variety of vendors.
Southern New Mexico Wine Festivals
Each Labor Day and Memorial Day weekend, the Southern NM Fair Grounds hosts a four day wine festival with food, entertainment, and wine tastings from vineyards and wineries in the southwestern US, featuring St. Clair Wines from our very own region. Adults 21+ pay $13 for an all day pass, including a souvenir glass and multiple wine tastings; people under 21 are free but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. |

The Whole Enchilada Festival
At the end of September, Hadley Fields in Las Cruces turns into a celebration of food, family, and fun. Rows and rows of vendors line the sports complex, selling anything from Egyptian cotton sheets to exotic food dishes from all around the world. Each night, several different musicians take the stage and the grass fields are filled with concert goers, dancers, and families. The local high school bands and businesses and organizations of all kinds put together their best floats for the Saturday morning parade. A full scale carnival sets itself up for the entire weekend, which comes to a close with the Whole Enchilada Bake put on by Robertos Mexican Restaurant; all of Las Cruces comes out to watch a team of twenty put together a six-foot red enchilada.
